TMJ and Sleep Apnea Appliances and Therapy
Both doctors have experience in treating problems of the TMJ and sleep apnea. We offer targeted splint therapy and partner with patients to promote the regain of function if possible.
Root Canal Therapy
If a tooth's nerve becomes diseased or damaged usually the tooth will require a root canal in order to save it. We clean the tooth and place a filling material inside the tooth during root canal therapy.
Microabrasion
There are many reasons why teeth have color imperfections in the outer layer of the tooth structure. Some may have had trauma to teeth, recently had braces removed, exposure to certain medications, etc., however there is a simple fix! Dr. Josh and Victoria are trained in ICON resin infiltration and enamel microabrasion. Both of these processes are easy, require no shots numbing, or drilling and can make teeth markedly whiter in a few minutes!

Periodontal health is critical! "Periodontium" is a big word meaning the foundation or support structure of the teeth. Dr. Victoria and Josh are passionate helping each patient maintain a healthy foundation.

Meet the doctors
Dr. Joshua McClanahan
Dr. Joshua McClanahan was raised in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. He graduated from Muscle Shoals High School. Afterwards, he attended the University of Alabama-Birmingham and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology and minors in chemistry and finance. Dr. McClanahan then attended the University of Alabama School of Dentistry and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
As a dentist, Dr. McClanahan strives to serve his patients to the best of his ability by improving their oral health and total health. He wants to treat people as family and in a way that represents his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To help him accomplish these goals, Dr. McClanahan actively studies and completes numerous continuing education course in various subjects. He also spends time weekly reading and learning about the advances in dentistry. Dr. McClanahan has advanced training in the subject of occlusion from the Dawson Academy.
Dr. McClanahan has enjoyed being a part of many short-term dental mission trips to Honduras and Guatemala, He and his wife are members of Hunter Street Baptist Church, in Hoover, Alabama.
Dr. McClanahan married his wife, Dr. Victoria, in May 2018. In his free time, he enjoys playing with their Layla (their little girl), being outdoors, playing sports, and turkey hunting. Dr. McClanahan is excited to provide compassionate, quality care to his patients.
Dr. Victoria McClanahan
Dr. Victoria McClanahan grew up in Helena, Alabama. She graduated valedictorian of McAdory High school then attended the University of Alabama. She graduated suma cum laude as a member of the Honors College with a Bachelors of Science degree in chemistry. She then completed her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry.
As a dentist, Dr. V McClanahan strives to work alongside her patients, helping them achieve excellent, long-term oral health in a comfortable and friendly environment. She especially loves treating children, teenagers and friends with special needs. She is a enjoys doing invisible aligner therapy and loves helping improve smiles through this program!
She is passionate about serving the Lord. Her favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:38-39. In 2015, she met Dr. Josh McClanahan on a medical mission trip to Guatemala. They were married in May 2018. Together, Layla Grace (born June 25, 2024) and they have 5 doggies (Sugar, Lucky, Trooper, Marty, and Daisy)! In her spare time she loves painting, reading, and all kinds of arts and crafts. She loves Disney and animals, especially Dachshunds!

Overtime, my teeth were becoming increasingly sensitive. It was getting to the point that I was having to abstain from many foods, including ketchup and orange juice. I was brushing my teeth in warm water with sensitive toothpaste and going dentist appointments regularly, but the issue remained.
Once I saw Dr. Victoria, the sensitivity improved that day! She diagnosed the issue and was able to stop the progression of sensitivity. As it turns out, I was brushing my teeth too hard and my gums were receding from my teeth, exposing the roots. She sealed the issue, thus preventing me from needing expensive gum surgery and stopped the sensitivity! She also recommended a special toothbrush to prevent me from continuing to brush too hard. She has dramatically changed my life! I no longer dread eating and brushing. I have been her patient for over 5 years and I’m immensely thankful for her.
